MMU Internal Law Mooting Competition 2010/2011

            On 4th, 5th and 6th of November 2010, MMU Internal Law Mooting Competition Preliminary Rounds were held. There were a total of 76 teams and 152 participants from Delta and Epsilon year participating in this annual event.

            The English session was held on 4th of November at Central Lecture Complex (CLC) from 7.30p.m to 10.30p.m the Bahasa Malaysia session was held on the 5th of November and on 6th of November, both sessions were held; from 8.00a.m to 11.00a.m for the English session and 1.00p.m to 3p.m for the Bahasa Malaysia session.

            The Law Moot Competition 2010/2011 officially ended on 8th January 2010. The finals were held in our very own Moot Court.

The MULS Emblem

                When the creative department sat down to brainstorm on the various designs that were to be the Multimedia University’s Law Society’s (MULS) emblem, it was decided that the emblem should manifest what the society most steadfastly stand for; Justice, Integrity and Honour above all. These are the words forever forged into the emblem, ever strong and never to be forgotten. The centrepiece of the MULS emblem is the Multimedia University’s Logo (MMU Logo), flanked by two knights on both sides and is backed by the Lady Justice.

                The Lady Justice personifies the moral force that underlies the legal system. Her Ladyship is depicted wearing a blindfold indicating that justice is meted out objectively, without fear or favour, regardless of the rank, race or religion of the individual brought before the court. Her Ladyship also carries a double edged sword in her right hand which divides the power of Reason and Justice in either direction squarely.

                The idea of depicting two knights in the emblem cannot express how much it is the aims of the society to shape its members to observe all the virtues that a knight possess. The knight is a symbol of bravery, loyalty to his King and God, and willingness to sacrifice himself for the greater good. The knight is also respected as being merciful, humble and courteous. The knight is also regarded as gracious and gentle. The two knights in the emblem kneels upon the suspended weighing scales typically symbolising fairness, equality as well as justice, while proudly holding MULS banner with their jousts.

                The colours of the emblem, black and white were chosen to represent the age old etiquette and courtroom formality. Red and blue were chosen in respect and honour of the MMU logo.
